Contact: Melanie Vradenburgh for more information
Hurricane Helene has brought total devastation to Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, parts of Georgia and South Carolina, and Florida leaving many communities in urgent need of immediate support. Our hearts and prayers are with those affected.
Currently, Friendship Baptist Church is partnering with The Wilds Christian Camp and Operation Renewed Hope (ORH)—Christian ministries we already support—to bring relief and hope to those in need.
For those who wish to contribute financially—

We have already sent a few FBC men to assist with the on-going clean-up efforts at The Wilds.
- There are still a lot of trees down.
- They just regained power a couple of days ago.
- The majority of work is cleaning up downed trees—some are on their buildings.
- Workers with the ability to run heavy machinery and chainsaws are still needed.
Dr. Troy Anderson has been “running point” here at FBC in our efforts to help The Wilds however we can. If you are willing or able to help in any way, please reach out to Dr. Anderson.

Operation Renewed Hope is actively working in multiple areas hit by Helene, where entire churches, bridges, and communities have been washed away. Mr. Chris McAviney with ORH stated, “Rebuilding is harder than clean-up….Money and help is needed now…and will still be needed in three months.”
Right now, ORH is supporting local pastors by hiring them, ensuring they have the resources they need to survive, and paying them to bring aid up into the mountains. They are distributing food, water, baby diapers, and even assisting a women’s crisis center outside Asheville.
For the most recent updates from ORH please go to www.operationrenewedhope.
How can you help ORH? Now through the end of October, FBC will be collecting:
- Baby diapers—all sizes
- Baby wipes
- Clorox wipes
- Feminine hygiene products
- New (unwashed) blankets—all sizes (please leave all cards, tags, and price tags attached)
***These items can be put on the donation table in the Welcome Center across from the Guest Services Desk.
Your support—whether by donating, by going, or by praying—makes a real difference in the lives of those who are broken physically and spiritually by the recent destruction.
Let’s join together in these efforts to help bring the hope of the gospel through our good works to our WNC neighbors and beyond.
