Seven Questions to Ask Yourself in Making Decisions
given by Pastor Vradenburgh
In a recent message, “Ways in Which God Proves Us,” Pastor shared seven important questions we can ask ourselves. Prayerfully consider these scriptural guidelines as you make decisions.
#1 Will it glorify God?
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
#2 Will it edify my brother or tend to cause him to stumble?
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. (Romans 14:19)
#3 Does it have a tendency to crucify or exalt self?
That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. (Philippians 3:10)
#4 In doing it, am I “abstaining from all appearance of evil” as well as abstaining from the overt act?
Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22)
#5 Does it meet all the criteria of Philippians 4:8?
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
#6 Will it cause me to be enslaved to anything other than Christ?
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (1 Corinthians 6:12)
#7 Can I do it in love?
Let all your things be done with charity. (1 Corinthians 16:14)
